London South Bank University commissioned us to create a soft branded piece about International Women in Engineering Day 2019, contributing to raise awareness and raise the profile of women in engineering and focuses attention on the amazing career opportunities available to girls in this exciting industry. Three Academics and one student reflect and describe their engineering daily life in a simple and effective way. Hero-style attitude, young and vibrant tone, fast paced cuts playing with the rich visual palette of engineering worlds, in order to reflect LSBU’s audience of prospective and existing students.

The video is meant to trigger interest in the fascinating world of engineering, and demonstrate that women can not only contribute, but be the best in this field.
After watching the videos, the viewers had a better awareness of both the subject and university, and were prompted to look for more information on how to study engineering at LSBU.

It had to be filmed in a single day, due to interviewees’ availabilities, which was challenging. We had to use two teams in order to film everything on time and budget. Whilst team 1 was doing the hero shots interviews, team 2 was filming all other illustrative shots, allowing to capture. The shoot was semi-scripted and we had to improvise many action shots on the day. Electronic upbeat music, glitch graphics, match cut and fast cuts allowed our editor to play creatively with the engineering theme stylistically, recreating in some ways some urban style music videos with a hero feel of the women portrayed.
